Educational Qualification -

  • Successfully completed the 10+2 (Intermediate) Examination from a Recognized Board in India.

Age Limit -

  • You should be between 18 and 27 years old as of August 1, 2024. (If you're from SC/ST backgrounds, you get a relaxed age limit of 5 years, and if you're from OBC backgrounds, it's relaxed by 3 years.)

Syllabus -


The SSC CHSL examination comprises four sections:
  • English Language: This section evaluates candidates' proficiency in English grammar, vocabulary, comprehension, and writing ability.
  • Numerical Proficiency: This section evaluates candidates' prowess in mathematics, covering areas such as arithmetic, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and interpreting data.

Exam Pattern -


The journey through the SSC CHSL unfolds across three distinct phases:
  • Tier-I (Computer Based Examination): It consists of objective-type multiple-choice questions and is conducted online. Each section carries 25 questions, and the total duration is 60 minutes.
  • Tier-II (Descriptive Paper): Candidates need to write an essay and a letter/application within 60 minutes. This paper is conducted offline.
  • Tier-III (Skill Test/Typing Test): This stage evaluates candidates' typing speed and accuracy for Data Entry Operator (DEO) and typing speed for Postal Assistant/Sorting Assistant and Lower Division Clerk positions.
