Eligibility Requirements:
(I) Nationality
(1) To be eligible for the Indian Administrative Service, the Indian Foreign Service, and the Indian Police Service, candidates must hold Indian citizenship.
(2) For other services, candidates must fulfill one of the following conditions:
(a) Hold Indian citizenship.
(b) Be a citizen of Nepal.
(c) Be a citizen of Bhutan.
(d) Be a Tibetan refugee who arrived in India before January 1, 1962, with the intention of permanent settlement.
(e) Be a person of Indian origin who migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia with the intention of permanently settling in India.
However, candidates falling under categories (b), (c), (d), and (e) must possess a certificate of eligibility issued by the Government of India. Candidates requiring a certificate of eligibility may still apply for the examination, but the final appointment offer will only be extended after the necessary eligibility certificate is issued by the Government of India.
Examination Format and Subjects:
A. INITIAL ASSESSMENT:
The Initial Assessment includes two compulsory Papers, each valued at 200 marks.

(i) Both papers consist of objective-type questions and last for two hours each.
(ii) The General Studies Paper-II serves as a qualifying examination for the Civil Services (Initial Assessment), with a minimum pass mark set at 33%.
